Introducing the Topspin 90
The Topspin 90 enables IT managers to build cost-effective 10Gbps server clusters for distributed databases and high-performance computing. Setting it apart from other entry-level InfiniBand switches, the Topspin 90 can be easily expanded from its 12-port base configuration to support adding up to two 2Gbps Fibre Channel ports or four Gigabit Ethernet ports by simply inserting an optional module into its built-in expansion slot.

Cluster Scalability
With 12 InfiniBand ports in the Topspin 90, and the ability to easily cascade multiple switches, IT managers can deploy real-world-sized clusters today and protect their initial investments with the flexibility to upgrade over time. The expansion module allows database and high-performance compute clusters to scale higher and faster without major or costly upgrades.

Seamless SAN and LAN Connectivity
The Topspin 90 creates a single 10Gbps fabric for inter-process communications, storage, and networking. With just one 10Gbps adapter, administrators can create virtual network interface cards (NICs) and host bus adapters (HBAs) in every server, offering a full 10Gbps of peak load-balanced bandwidth per port for mission-critical applications. Resources can be managed on one switched fabric, eliminating the need to install and manage multiple Ethernet, Fibre Channel, and inter-processor communication (IPC) cards.

High Availability
The Topspin 90 meets high-availability requirements with redundant, hot-pluggable power and cooling. The optional expansion module is also hot-pluggable. Multiple Topspin 90s can also be deployed in redundant pairs to prevent single points of failure at the system level.

Complete End-to-End Solution
The Topspin 90 joins what is already the most complete switched computing solution in the industry. This includes Topspin's flagship 360 Switched Computing System, integrated Ethernet and Fibre Channel gateway modules, 10Gbps InfiniBand host channel adapters with complete upper layer protocols suite (IPoIB, MPI, SDP, SRP, uDAPL, VIPL), and an embedded subnet manager. The Topspin 90 shares common software and expansion modules with the Topspin 360, offering a clear growth path while protecting existing investments.

Easy Management
Using the embedded Subnet Manager, the Topspin 90 can be deployed out of the box in minutes. And with Topology Transparency, no changes are necessary to existing SAN and IP management tools. Configuration and maintenance are simplified with a full-featured graphical user interface (GUI) and command line interface (CLI) via serial console, Telnet or SSH, enabling remote monitoring, upgrades, and troubleshooting. The Topspin 90 can be managed via the Topspin management suite or with existing management systems using standard protocols like SNMP.
